In nature area Grootgoor space is made for water. By constructing a quay and an adjustable high-water weir, we are creating a water storage facility. During extreme rainfall, up to 460,000 cubic meters of water can be temporarily parked here. Den Ouden Infra and Aannemingsbedrijf FJ Van Uijtert designed the Grootgoor nature reserve and also carried out stream restoration work. This involves the relocation, narrowing and deepening of the current stream course, the construction of quays and the installation of a high water weir. With this we are realizing a controlled water storage, so that the city residents of Eindhoven and surroundings will have dry feet in the future during heavy rainfall.
In addition we are making the area attractive for rare flora and fauna, such as the creek lamprey. The work also involves landscaping the area with recreational elements such as a picnic area.
