Soil bank De Kempen in Sterksel is recognized for the biological cleaning of contaminated soil in accordance with BRL SIKB 7500, protocol 7510.
Biological cleaning is based on the breakdown of specific pollutants (particularly hydrocarbon compounds) by micro-organisms such as bacteria and fungi with the addition of nutrients and/or sufficient oxygen. To this end, organic matter is dosed and cleaning clusters are periodically converted (aerated). The degradation process is monitored by regularly measuring relevant process parameters.
After completion of the demolition process, batches of cleaned soil are inspected and reused as industrial soil class.
