Den Ouden Infra and M.J. Van Uijtert and Water Board De Dommel are realizing the Beekherstel and Water Storage De Run project in the Grootgoor nature reserve.
Client: Waterschap de Dommel
Implementation period: March 2021
Space is being made for water in the Grootgoor nature reserve. By constructing a quay and an adjustable high-water weir, we are creating a water storage facility. During extreme rainfall, a maximum of 460,000 cubic meters of water can be temporarily parked here. Den Ouden Infra and Aannemingsbedrijf FJ Van Uijtert designed the Grootgoor natural landscape and also carried out stream restoration work. This concerns the relocation, narrowing and shallowing of the current stream, the construction of quays and the installation of a high-water weir. With this we realize controlled water storage, so that city residents of Eindhoven and the surrounding area can keep their feet dry during heavy rainfall in the future.
In addition, we make the area attractive for rare flora and fauna, such as the brook lamprey. The work also concerns a landscape design of the area with recreational elements, such as a picnic area.
