Den Ouden Infra has renovated the bank construction of the Watermolenbeek in the center of Roosendaal over a length of almost 200 meters.
The Civil Concrete Construction specialists from Den Ouden Infra have renovated the bank construction of the Watermolenbeek in Roosendaal. The old bank construction with concrete sheet piling and concrete abutment dates from the beginning of the 20th century.
Client: municipality of Roosendaal
Implementation period: April 2018 to June 2019
Location: Watermolenbeek at the location of Burgemeester Freijterslaan and Kadeplein, Roosendaal
The renovation included cleaning and dredging the bottom of the stream, installing a reinforced underwater concrete floor and creating new reinforced concrete bank walls.
Ecological corridor
In addition to the renewal of the bank construction, we have taken measures to strengthen the ecological connection zone. For example, we installed a walkway with plants and cleaned up the existing retaining wall construction to make it suitable for the growth of wall ferns.
Challenging preconditions
The most important precondition within the project was that we were not allowed to completely close the flow profile of the Watermolenbeek. This is because the stream drains a large part of the rainwater in the city center. During the work we therefore had a varying amount of water drained at different flow rates. Another challenge was the limited work area due to adjacent private properties.
