On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Rotary Netherlands, Rotary Clubs Son & Breugel and Best-Oirschot organized a compost campaign together with Den Ouden Organic on October 13, 2023. With free natural compost for the municipality of Best and for primary schools De Harlekijn in Son and De Stokland in Breugel, we jointly drew attention to the importance of greening the living environment.
Greening gardens and schoolyards
On October 13, residents could pick up free natural compost from Den Ouden Organic at the Milieustraat in Best at De Dieze 26 (5684 PT Best). The aim was to ensure that residents green their gardens. By using natural compost in garden soil, the soil dries out less quickly and moisture and nutrients are retained better. Good for the climate, a remedy against heat stress and it contributes to living pleasure.
De Harlekijn primary school in Son and De Stokland primary school in Breugel also received natural compost. This allowed the schools to maintain a vegetable garden and further green their schoolyards. Here too, the aim was to increase biodiversity and make schoolyards more resistant to heat stress and drought.
